» What type of music made up your high school years?
Just wondering. Every time I hear the pixies, I'm right back there sitting in the lunch room picking at check mix. What bands put you back into your high school years?Well, I'm still in high school, but
METAL METAL METAL.
And Gogol Bordello. =DI simply love to hear one say a song takes them back to a certain and particular place in their life. Music should do that EXACT thing for all of us.
I graduated high school in 1974. Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, David Bowie, Ted Nugent, Frank Zappa and The Who were just a few of the musicians my peers and I fell in love with and listened to - often. These days when I hear an old Zeppelin or Bowie song, I sing out loud and sometimes go back to those days. Music has always been a g...... - 2009-07-03
» Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L USM review!!!
wanted to know if this lens is worth getting from some people who own it?
i do a lot of landscape photography and need something thats durable and wide enough for lots of shots.
also looked at the tokina 12-24? any feedback?
garrenteei do happily use it for landscape and architecture, on a 35mm camera though.
it is not my sharpest L-glass wide open, but stepped down a bit it is great.
Not my sturdiest L either, but for the relatively low price (for an L lens) it is fairly well built.
edit: as for durability: I use it outdoors, also on hiking expeditions for several days where it spends nights with me in the tent. I use a UV filter though, since there is a little gap between the tube and the front element which could draw dust while...... - 2009-07-03

» How to erasers (rubbers, scratchers, la gomma etc.) work?
How do they erase stuff? They rub a layer of paper off.
That's why you shouldn't clean your erasers on paper since all you're doing is just putting paper onto the eraser. Use the carpet or cotton - that forces the eraser to shed a layer of itself which is what you want.
Mmhmm. This is dinner conversation at my family.

» Zidane staying?
I read an article on the Gazzetta dello Sport that Zidane is apparently staying on the team through the Euro 2008. Is this true?
By the way, I really liked Les Bleus throughout the final, though, of course, certain incidents infuriated me....:)
Anyways, we'll meet on September 6th.This is a petition to the French Football Federation to honor Zinedine Zidane. We are asking that a friendly match for charity be organized as a thank you to Zizou. The images of his final game were unfair and greatly saddening. He deserves a better farewell, which he was cheated out of. He is one of a kind, a player who left his heart on the field. He always played with passion, brilliance, grace, teamwork, pride, and joy. » Name of a Charlie Brown episode?
I'm trying to find a title of an old charlie brown i watched. It's either a movie or an episode, but i'm pretty sure it's an episode. In it, the characters are in a race. I think there's a part where they go through the woods, and what i remember the most is that snoopy is in a blue boxy-type car, and i think he's winning when he goes through some water and gets stuck. he probably ends up rowing to get out, and i think woodstock is there with him. It's the motocross episode. If you know the title, please help me out. [ :"You're A Good Sport, Charlie Brown"

» Anyone is the Portland, OR market?
I'm fairly new to the Portland, OR marketplace after just moving here from the midwest. We had to close our studio there due to the economic conditions... bounced checks, charge backs on credit cards (disputes for free pics), etc. It was horrid. Now that we're out here, I'm noticing quite a bit of saturation in the marketplace and would love to hear some feedback on this area in regards to operating conditions, pricing, "models" (are there any REAL ones here or just more scammers??), and what's hot and what's not. Seems that due to it being a college area, everyone and thier grandmother has a digital camera and is advertising services as a photographer. First, I dont even have a boyfriend, I've never met this guy before. But just a week ago I had a dream with this same guy in it and he was my boyfriend in that also. In the dream my family told me that my boyfriend died and I didn't really believe them. I started getting flashbacks of me and him together. Then in my dream, there was these people in the forest and it seemed like maybe they were looking for him and I remember getting mad because I wasn't with him last. hi ,
My XBox DVD drive got broken. I couldnt get another one in this part of the world . So i softmodded using hotswap and installed a new Sony DRU 820A drive . It reads most DVD , CDs .
I installed XBMP . XBMP detected the drive and i played songs from the drive.
But when i installed XBMC , it always show DVD drive (Open).
Same happens with Evox . Im assuming the API used to program are specific to Xbox DVD Drive Firmware and doesnt work with generic drives.
But XBMP is still able to read the drive and works fine with Sony Drive
Is there any possible way to make XBMC work with normal PC DVD drives connected to a XBox.

I wanted to go for a real outsider and picked Sean, because of his misfit-ism and the fact that the actor is leaving EE soon. So it would make some sense. And the history of him trying to kill Max in the past with Tanya.

Howerver, the shared borders (of web A) default to the root shared borders (web B). Is there any way to keep both shared borders without making the web (web A) a subweb?Hey florita07,
I do not think it is possible to use different shared borders without making a subweb. The shared borders are stored in the _borders folder of your FrontPage Web, and that folder is usually hidden unless you are an adminstrator. » Going 'Retro' with film?
Hi All,
I've been playing with my Canon 300D for a few months now, having moved on from an old Canon Powershot, and an older Olympus digital before that, so I've been digital for 5 years.
I've recently inherited a Minolta 7000 and various lenses from my Grandfather. My first idea was to sell all the kit on eBay and use the money to buy something new for my Canon, but firstly there is a bit of sentimental value there, and secondly it looks like I'd be lucky get much more than £100 for the lot, so I don't think it's worth the effort.
And now that I understand SLRs a bit better, I've started to think that maybe I should get some film and play with the Minolta! Maybe some slide film, or B&W, just something different.

» Nikon Glass 21% more $$ then equivalent Canon?
After researching for some time, I began to lean towards purchasing the Nikon d300 over the Canon 40D. Canon glass is more familiar to me and I assumed the price between the two would be somewhat equal.
To my surprise, the Nikon glass is much more expensive. Unless, I'm not seeing the Nikon equivalent?
For instance, at some point, the perfect setup for me would be:
Canon
10-22 $674.95
24-70L 2.8 $1059.95
70-200L IS 2.8 $1659.95
Total: $3394.85
Nikon
12-24 $919.95
24-70 2.8 $1699.95
70-200 2.8 VR $1639.95
Total: $4259.85
Difference, $865.00 or 21%. Add the $500 extra for the Nikon body and it equals $1365.00 extra for the Nikon setup.

» Did faulty fluid fill valve cause hidden leak?
Hello,
There was a leak in the apartment beneath mine. The building engineer came into my apartment and saw that all surfaces in my bathroom were dry, and there was no sound of water flowing into my toilet.
Days later I was informed that the building manager repaired my toiled while I was at work after determining that a faulty fill valve caused the leak. She says that the leak was inside the toilet, so I might have overlooked the problem when I looked at the toilet.
This seems strange to me. The fill valve regulates the flow of water into the tank. If it was faulty it might cause the tank to overfill and pour onto the floor (which was clearly not the case). I don't see how it would cause a leak inside the toilet. Also I would have exp...... - 2009-07-03

See the source web site for the best information. Here is an excerpt;
The mass of the Earth is approximately 5.98×1024 kg. For some odd reason I can post a new thread, but I can't read any posts in the forum itself. The browser just freezes on me. I have no problems with any of the other areas.

Let me check and see if I have the same problem.

» Advice on Hard Drive
Hello! I've got XBMC running on my XBOX (great software, guys!) and I'm wanting to add storage for movies and music. I'm not sure if it's possible to stream video through my wireless LAN (my Xbox is connected through an ethernet bridge) without having it hang a bit (my router is on the ground floor, Xbox on second).
What are some of your experiences with using external storage? Am I better off just getting a bigger internal drive for my Xbox?
Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks!
THTWireless is not the best in my experence.. I sacked it in favor of good'ol hard cabled 100mbps ethernet but thats not to say it doesnt work.. it does... just not the quickest.. mate of mine uses 54mbps WLAN and he's happy... I can see a huge differenc...... - 2009-07-03

Fireworks has a new updater (http://www.macromedia.com/support/fireworks/downloads_updaters.html) (patch) to get you up to speed with Fireworks 7.0.2. You can read the release notes here (http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/fireworks/mx2004/releasenotes_fwmx702.html). Doesn't seem to be that crucial of an update, but it is comforting to know that Macromedia is sticking to their guns in addressing such issues and patching them.
Also, if you've missed it, the Freehand 11.0.2 updater (http://www.macromedia.com/support/freehand/updaters.html) was released last month. » "In the Automobile" pop song from the early 80's?
I'm looking for title/group/album/publisher of a song I heard once on
the radio somewhere between 1979 and 1985 or so. The only part of the
lyrics I recall is along the lines of "We've got it realing, rocking;
we've got it moving, grooving, in the automobile." I have a vague
notion that the group was European; perhaps some of the lyrics were
not in english (german, maybe?). The title could well have been "In
the Automobile". I certainly never heard it again; surely it didn't
make the charts in the US, but it really moved.Doctorf:

The onset of illness for those battling the flu of 1918 was quite sudden. In a matter of mere hours, a person could go from strapping good health to being so enfeebled they could not walk. Victims complained of general weakness and severe aches in their muscles, backs, joints, and heads. Often enduring fevers that could reach 105 degrees, the sick fell prey to wild bouts of delirium. Innocent objects--pieces of furniture, wallpaper, lamps--would adopt wicked manifestations in the minds of those consumed by fever. When the fevers finally broke, many victims ...... - 2009-07-03

3. Can i skin subcategories? I would like something as:

I get that you see religion as very harmful, but does that mean it isn´t worth studying? Criminology and psychiatry, dodgy though they may be, are academic studies of important subjects. iGood luck finding an artist willing to tattoo there. It's pretty difficult to heal and usually (if not always) ends up fading pretty fast.
But none of us can tell you how painful it is. The only way you can find out is by getting it done. Everyone's level of tolerance to pain is different.I can't imagine that it would hurt that much. If you think about it, the skin there is thicker (well, except for maybe the arch) and since it gets touched frequently, it's used to feeling all sorts of sensations. If you're ticklish on your feet, though, you may experience that annoying kind of pain that comes with not being able to relieve the tickle.

» The Story of Kristian's Fir (warning: looong read and 15 photos!)
This is the story of a little fir tree that took a fir tree's most desired start in its early life to have excitement galore as a bigger tree after all.
In December of 1988, Andreas (my husband) and my first-born son Kristian had the honourable task to bring us a Christmas tree, which, according to our German traditions, always is a real tree, mostly recently cut. (There are real "Christmas tree plantations" for this purpose). And we only set up the tree on Christmas Eve. My two men at the time (while I was pregnant with the third to arrive in April the year after) took their time in getting the tree, and finally went about their task on 23 December. The only tree the size that would fit into our then still quite small attic home was a li...... - 2009-07-03
